Në shkurt 1923 Beqir Valteri qëlloi brenda Parlamentit, kryeministrin e kohës Ahmet Zogun.

Në Parlament dy ditë më vonë u lexua një letër, kunder atij akti, e nënshkruar nga kryepleqtë e katundeve të Matit, mes të cilëve ishte edhe i ati i Beqirit.

Por atentati ja doli të fuste në kaos të plotë politikën shqiptare të kohës. Zogu dha dorëheqjen.

Pas vrasjes së Avni Rustemit, që mendohej se e ishte personi kryesor që e kishte shtyrë Valterin drejt vrasjes në tentativë, ndodhi revolucioni i qershorit.

Me ardhjen e Nolit në pushtet, Valteri lirohet nga burgu.

Në dhjetor 1924 para rikthimit të Zogut ikën nga Shqipëria. Kthehet më 1939, pas një letre dhe 4000 frangave të paguara për kthim nga miku i tij Mustafa Kruja.

Gjatë L2B u caktua si Komisar i Lartë i Ushtrisë dhe më pas në kohën e pushtimit gjerman qe deputet në Parlamentin me 250 anëtarë të asaj kohe.

Me ardhjen e komunistëve në pushtet qe njëri nga të akuzuarit si “kriminel lufte” dhe në Gjyqit Special, më 13 prill 1945 u dënua me pushkatim vetë i shtatëmbëdhjeti.
