Në vendet ku po grumbullohen nënshkrimet e qytetarëve ishin të pranishëm përfaqësuesit e Listës Serbe, partisë kryesore të serbëve në Kosovë e cila gëzon mbështetjen e Beogradit.

Sipas gazetarëve REL-it, në krye të radhëve të gjata të qytetarëve në Mitrovicë të Veriut ishte kryetari i kësaj partie, Zllatan Ellek. Aty u panë edhe zyrtarët e kësaj partie, Igor Simiq dhe Millan Radojeviq, ish-kryetari i Mitrovicës së Veriut. Po ashtu, i pranishëm ishte edhe Goran Rakiq, ish-udhëheqësi i Listës Serbe, i cili ishte në listën e kandidatëve nga radhët e Partisë Progresive Serbe (SNS) për deputetë në Kuvendin e Serbisë.

Reporteri REL-it raportoi se në Leposaviq, në vendin ku po mblidhen nënshkrimet për peticionin, ishte i pranishëm edhe Zoran Todiq nga Lista Serbe, i cili më parë ka udhëhequr këtë komunë.

Lista Serbe kishte iniciuar largimin e serbëve nga institucionet e Kosovës në nëntor të vitit 2022 dhe më pas kishte bërë thirrje për bojkotimin e zgjedhjeve të prillit të vitit të kaluar.

Mirëpo, në mesin e tetorit të vitit 2023, kjo parti deklaroi se ishte e gatshme të merrte pjesë në zgjedhjet në komunat në veri, pa vendosur asnjë kusht për pjesëmarrje në zgjedhje, siç kishte bërë më herët.

Ky qëndrim i kësaj partie u mor pasi presidenti serb, Aleksandar Vuçiq, u bëri thirrje përfaqësuesve serbë në veri të Kosovës që të inicionin mbajtjen e zgjedhjeve të reja në mënyrë që “levat kryesore të pushtetit të jenë në duart e tyre”.

Kësaj thirrjeje i parapriu një sulm i armatosur në Banjskë të Zveçanit më 24 shtator, kur një grup serbësh sulmuan Policinë e Kosovës duke vrarë një polic. Përgjegjësinë për sulmin e mori ish-nënkryetari i Listës Serbe, Millan Radoiçiq.
